LAEF Announces Heather Macdonald as Executive Director

Heather Macdonald

Los Altos Educational Foundation’s (LAEF) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Macdonald as the organization’s new executive director.

“I am thrilled to welcome Heather as LAEF’s new leader,” says Katherine Stephens, President of the Board of Directors. “Heather brings a wealth of experience in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds as well as a passion for ensuring a well-rounded, high-quality public education for our children.” Adds Superintendent Jeff Baier, “Heather is an excellent addition to the LASD family and it is already clear that she will add great value to our collective work.”

“I’m delighted to join an organization that is integral to ensuring the outstanding public education offered by the Los Altos School District,” says Macdonald. “I believe that all residents within the school district benefit from this top-notch education and that LASD can serve as a model to other communities.”

Macdonald served for over ten years as COO for Menlo Park-based nonprofit Art in Action where she oversaw operations, supported their school program, and assisted in fundraising for the organization. Prior to that she served as Director of Corporate Services at Intuit.

Macdonald is a 23 year resident of Palo Alto and an active volunteer in the community. Her commitment to education is clear in the numerous volunteer roles she has held, including serving on the PTA Board at Palo Verde Elementary School, as an Adult Literacy Volunteer for Project Read and volunteer tutor for Sequoia Adult School Scholars, and on the Education Committee of the League of Women Voters of Palo Alto.
