Stephanie Dauer

Stephanie Dauer, LAEF Board President

Stephanie’s two children are graduates of Gardner Bullis and Egan. In addition to serving as president of the LAEF board this school year, she volunteers on the board of the Los Altos Art Docents, and she and her daughter are members of the National Charity League. Recent volunteer positions include serving as a board member on the LASD Citizens Advisory Committee for Finance, PTA President for Gardner Bullis and President of Children’s Support League of the East Bay. Stephanie’s professional experience includes VP of Marketing at SquareTrade and Marketing Manager at McKesson. A Palo Alto native, Stephanie enjoys exercising, travel, and getting outside!
 

  

Steve Apfelberg

Steve Apfelberg, LAEF Board Vice President, Almond Elementary School Representative

Steve Apfelberg has a 6th grader at Almond. He’s the JV Girls Tennis Coach at Los Altos High School and was previously VP of Marketing at TriNet. He enjoys volunteering with Los Altos Little League, Pacific Community Ventures, AYSO, and Flag Football. While not volunteering with LAEF, Steve enjoys spending time with family, coaching youth sports, traveling, tennis, running, history, and sports trivia.

 

Mike Kostow

Mike Kostow, Almond Elementary School Representative

Mike has a 2nd and 4th grader at Almond. He is currently SVP & GM for Salesforce, with 20+ years in enterprise software. He's a Chicago native and moved to the Bay Area in 1997. Mike enjoys coaching kids sports, cycling, traveling, and cooking.

Aditi Goel

Aditi Goel, Covington Elementary School Representative

Aditi has a 4th grader at Covington where she has volunteered as auction co-chair and room parent. Her career has been dedicated to education equity and reform, social impact, and public policy. At Google, Aditi designed and launched Code Next, a series of afterschool computer science programs in Oakland, CA, and Harlem, NY for Black and Latino students. Currently, Aditi is an independent consultant working with philanthropic, higher education, social sector, and nonprofit clients.

Emily Harris

Emily HarrisCovington Elementary School Representative

Emily has a 3rd grader at Covington. She is a Managing Officer for a small business she owns with her husband, Chris. She volunteers at schools & local nonprofits committed to education, health, and literacy in Santa Clara County. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in the greater Los Angeles area, then taught middle school Language Arts in San Diego. Emily enjoys making greeting cards, teaching others how to find mindfulness through crafting, and spreading handmade kindness.
 

Gayle Tait

Gayle Tait, LAEF Board Secretary, Covington Elementary School Representative

Gayle Tait has two daughters currently in 2nd grade and 5th grade at Covington. Gayle was born in the UK, grew up in Luxembourg, and has been a resident of Los Altos for 4 years. Gayle is currently Senior Director of Retail & Payments Activation for Google Play and was previously Managing Director of L’Oréal UK & Ireland. In her precious spare time, she is a Peloton cycling aficionado and e-commerce connoisseur.

Rita Chan

Rita Chan, Gardner Bullis Elementary School Representative

Rita has a 1st and 4th grader at Gardner Bullis.  She is an in-house attorney at a public water agency and previously worked in a private law firm, practicing in general government and environmental/land use areas. Rita likes to volunteer at her children’s school activities as much as her work allows and enjoys traveling, especially exploring new places, learning other cultures, and studying architecture.

Jill Harding

Jill Harding, Gardner Bullis Elementary School Representative

Jill has a Kindergartener and 5th grader at Gardner Bullis. She grew up in Ontario Canada and moved to the Bay Area in 2002. Jill is the VP, Corporate Tax at Synopsys, Inc. She and her husband enjoy running, cycling and swimming, competing in triathlons and marathons together. Jill is also an avid equestrian and rides with her daughters at Windy Hill Equestrians in Los Altos Hills.

Katie Schmidt

Katie Schmidt, Loyola Elementary School Representative

Katie has a 2nd and 4th grader at Loyola. She moved from Atlanta to the Bay Area in 2014. Katie volunteers as both an LAEF and PTA board member. Katie enjoys tennis, hiking, reading, and cooking.

Mira Sharma

Meenakshi Sharma, Loyola Elementary School Representative

Meenakshi (Mira) has twins in 2nd grade at Loyola. She is the VP, Product Marketing and Design at eGain Corporation.

Vijeyta Aggarwal

Vijeyta Aggarwal, Oak Avenue School Representative

Vijeyta has a 2nd grader at Oak. She works as Director of Product at Hippo Insurance and has been in high tech for over 15 years. Vijeyta grew up in India and moved to the US to pursue her MS at Carnegie Mellon University. She also earned a BEng from University from Mumbai. Vijeyta has volunteered and supported El Camino Hospital Foundation and Team in Training, and enjoys exploring outdoors, spending time with the family and reading.

Amie Wang

Amie Wang, Oak Avenue School Representative

Amie has a 3rd and 6th grader at Oak. She founded and currently works at Play It Fit, LLC. In the past, she worked as Director of Product Management at Wireless Generation, and Product Marketing Manager at Motorola. Amy has volunteered as PTA Secretary and in Project Cornerstone leadership at Oak. Amie likes to play and move with her kids and connect with family and friends. She enjoys nature, reading, and watching movies.

Jensen Barna

Jensen Barna, Santa Rita Elementary School Representative

Jensen has a 3rd and 5th grader at Santa Rita. She is a Financial Analyst with the City of Santa Clara and previously worked for the City of Sunnyvale and KPMG. She enjoys volunteering with the Parent Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park and the Children’s Corner Preschool of Los Altos and Mountain View. She enjoys learning more about art history and antiquities across all cultures.

Justin Martin

Justin Martin, LAEF Board CFO, Santa Rita Elementary School Representative

Justin has twins in 1st grade and a 3rd grader at Santa Rita. He is Vice President of Finance at Skylo Technologies, with previous experience at Bloom Energy and Cisco.  In his free time, he enjoys homebrewing, skiing, golf, hiking and cheering for the University of Tennessee football team.

Aleks Stanojevic

Aleks Stanojevic, Santa Rita Elementary School Representative

Aleks has a 2nd and 5th grader at Santa Rita. She is the Vice President of Strategic Finance at Shutterfly and was previously in finance leadership roles at Applied Materials. She has been a resident of Los Altos for more than 12 years. Aleks enjoys volunteering at her children’s school activities (Project Cornerstone reader, room parent, helping with school plays) and enjoys traveling, reading, and playing tennis.

Sarah Daniels

Sarah Daniels, Springer Elementary School Representative

Sarah has a 4th and 6th grader at Springer. A former president of LAEF, she has served as the co-leader for Project Cornerstone at Springer, room parent, Brownie co-leader, and soccer coach. She is a proud product of public schools and she loves Los Altos for it's small town, supportive community feel. Sarah decided to Mom “full-time” when her oldest started kindergarten, after working as an environmental consultant. You can often find Sarah on a trail or field— she loves playing sports (tennis and soccer) and loves being active (running, biking, skiing).

Hilda Chan

Hilda Chan, Springer Elementary School Representative

Hilda has a 3rd and 6th grader at Springer. After 10+ years as a Marketing Director at Yahoo!, she is now enjoying more time with her children. Hilda has volunteered for Project Cornerstone, the school library, STEM Expo, and Walk-a-thon. She’s also served as a community volunteer for Mentor Tutor Connection. Hilda grew up in Hong Kong and came to the US for university. She enjoys hiking, going to the beach with her family, and has recently started playing the violin. 

Kristen Gklaros Stavropoulos

Kristen Gklaros Stavropoulos, Blach Intermediate School Representative

Kristen has a 3rd and 6th grader at Springer and an 8th grader at Blach. Kristen taught grades 3 and 4 in Connecticut for 8 years at a public elementary school. She volunteered at Springer as Room Parent, Project Cornerstone Reader, Co-chair of the Staff Appreciation Committee, Room Parent Coordinator, and handled PTA communications. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and going to the beach.

Aubrey Wing

Aubrey Wing, Blach Intermediate School Representative

Aubrey has an 8th grader at Blach and a 5th grader at Oak. He works as a Business Engagement Lead for Google Cloud. Aubrey grew up in Cupertino. He’s a long-time volunteer with Santa Clara County Parks and Silicon Valley Bike Exchange and enjoys cycling, skiing, and helping his wife run her business.

Shauna McIntyre

Shauna McIntyre, Egan Junior High School Representative

Shauna has a 5th grader at Covington and a 7th grader at Egan. Shauna is CEO at Sense Photonics, after serving as Lead at Google Automotive Services - Geo, and Chief of Staff at Google Hardware. She enjoys volunteering with the Covington PTA and SouthCentral Scholars. While not volunteering, Shauna enjoys skiing, running, and traveling.

Heather Macdonald

Heather Macdonald, LAEF Executive Director

Heather leads the educational foundation in raising funds that are a critical component of the Los Altos School District’s budget. She works in partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers to engage families and community members in raising funds to ensure that every one of the 4,000 students in the 7 elementary and 2 junior high schools receives a well-rounded, top-tier education.
Heather is passionate about supporting education through her work and volunteerism. Prior to joining LAEF, she worked for 12 years in nonprofit education at Art in Action. Heather also worked in the for-profit sector for over 15 years at companies that included Intuit and Bay Networks. She is a past PTA Executive Board member and enjoyed volunteering in her children’s schools. Originally from the East Coast, she’s been in the Bay Area for 30 years. She lives in Palo Alto with her husband and two daughters.

Anna Kjos

Anna Kjos, LAEF Staff Marketing Coordinator

Anna is a local who grew up in Los Altos and returned after living briefly in Boston. She worked for many years at Adobe Systems. In years past, her three kids attended Loyola where she was an active volunteer. As Marketing Coordinator for LAEF, she works with the board and staff to develop communications goals and marketing campaigns, implementing them via the LAEF website, email, social media, collateral, and events. Anna currently also serves on the board of the MVLA Highschool Foundation. In her spare time, she enjoys adventure travel, hiking, reading, and theater.

Kyuri

Kyuri DoedenLAEF Staff Donor Specialist

Kyuri is a California transplant from New Jersey. She moved to CA through her husband’s job transfer from Tokyo where she first went to teach English in public high schools for three years in the JET Program and then five years as an editorial assistant in the Linguaphone Japan office. Her three children are graduates of Loyola and Blach schools. When her kids were younger, Kyuri volunteered at Loyola and LAEF. She is currently the Donor Specialist at LAEF, focusing on donations, donor stewardship, and corporate matching. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering as an art docent, at various positions in her church as well as running, swimming, reading, traveling and going to see art exhibits and theater performances.
